Sue Turchick - Instructor and Owner

Tell me about your family.
I have been married to my wonderful husband (and co-owner of the store), Ed, since 1990. We have a really smart son, Phillip, who never stops asking (sometimes uncomfortable) questions.

How long have you been scrapbooking/card making?

Since 1998. I fell hook, line and sinker. My sisters and mom made fun of me, now they all scrapbook and make cards far more often than I do!

What do you do in your free time, when you're not working, teaching or scrapbooking?

I sing in a Sweet Adelines chorus and quartet, I read, and I sleep. I'm also a closet American Idol addict. I blame it on my son, but it's really me.

What products can't you imagine crafting without?
My Tonic Guillotine trimmer, a huge stack of Bazzill cardstock, and my Vario Tab dispenser. Everything else is optional!

What do you listen to when you scrapbook?
Either great disco music or talk radio. Late night talk radio is especially fun! I laugh out loud and I only have to explain myself to me.

Where is your favorite place to craft?
My mom's house. No ringing phone, no questions to answer, no work calling my name, no men and all the great loot I have in my stores (she buys EVERYTHING).

What do you like best about teaching?
Helping others have FUN and hopefully to brighten their day. And of course, after a class, I've made a bunch of new friends. What could be better?

Susan Skogseth - Instructor

Tell me about your family.  My husband Tom and I have been married for over 13 years.  We have two wonderful daughters Kaitlyn (13) and Emily (9).  We reside with our dog Pokey and our two kitties Murphy and Garfield.   I didn’t grow up with pets so I wonder how I ended up with so many!!!  Needless to say there never is a dull moment around here!!!

How long have you been scrapbooking/card making?  I went to my first CM party 9 years ago and never looked back.  I was hooked!!  The very next day I went out and bought all I could find on the subject.  My dad was the original scrapbooker in our family only he doesn’t really think so.  He kept birthday books for us four kids and to this day he still keeps them current (if I let him take my picture…I am the oldest).

What do you do in your free time, when you're not working, teaching or scrapbooking?
What free time…. I am a quintessential soccer mom, basketball mom and now hockey mom. Its soccer year round in our house…we only live 5 minutes away from Soccer Blast an indoor arena!! Even our vacations are taken around soccer tournaments. Last year Des Moines, this year Colorado!!! My husband and I bowl with friends in a league every other Sunday and I even have my own soccer bowling ball!! What ever other free time I have we are sure to fill it up with a family outing.

What do you listen to when you scrapbook?
I have a variety of songs on my Ipod. My husband just hooked me up with surround sound in my scrap room but if I do get down there I can’t listen too loudly or I’ll wake people up!! My favorites right now are the BoDeans, Dave Matthews Band, Jack Johnson. The list can go on and on. Sometime my 13 year old and I will share the same songs…scary huh???

Where is your favorite place to craft?
Usually any retreat type house. I am away from home, no one needs me, and there is no laundry to do or kids to haul. I am the most productive when I am away. I am lucky enough to be in with a group that goes twice a year. I do so look forward to those long weekends. I am also blessed with a scrapbook room where I can get away as well. Usually late at night when every one is asleep. If I can keep it clean I get a lot more done. I recently got re-organized and its helping my creativity too.

What do you like best about teaching?
The ability to connect with someone about something I feel passionate about. To see that “lightbulb” moment when they can feel it too. I like that I have made some great friends through teaching and it’s a great way to connect with others you may not know
